Hotel bed causes back troubles for Braves' Jones

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Chipper Jones says his bed in a New York hotel has caused his back to tighten up, and he has been scratched from the Atlanta Braves' starting lineup against the Mets.

Jones said Friday that his back has gone bad in New York three or four times over his 19-year career yet he hasn't asked to change hotels. He hopes to play Saturday.

The Braves originally had Jones in the lineup but replaced him at third base with Juan Francisco. Manager Fredi Gonzalez could've saved his eraser some time by checking Twitter.

Jones used the social media platform to complain about his room's air conditioning, TV and bed Thursday during the Braves' off day. He said a hotel employee came to his room very quickly after the tweet but he would not let the person in.
