Sales tax holidays start Friday for TN and AL
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Back-to-school shoppers have some options for saving money when it comes to shopping for back to school supplies and school-related purchases.
Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama have sales tax holidays this year. While each state has some differences in what items or price thresholds are included, shoppers won't pay sales tax and benefit from the cost savings directly.
The sales tax holiday is not limited to everyone, not just parents shopping for the upcoming school year. Typically clothing, school supplies, computers (with different price levels for each state) and more are exempt from sales tax.
In some instances, mail order purchases can also be exempt.
