CINCINNATI, Ohio (WRCB) -- Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive back Chris Lewis-Harris signed a free agent deal Thursday with the Cincinnati Bengals and will join the team when it opens training camp Friday afternoon.

Lewis-Harris was a four-year starter for the Mocs and captain of the Southern Conference's top defense as a senior in 2011. He was named second-team All-SoCon after finishing fourth on the team with 59 tackles last fall. He also had five career interceptions.

He is one of three former Chattanooga players on an NFL roster as training camps begin across the league this week. Fellow rookie and former UTC quarterback B.J. Coleman opened training camp with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, while former Chattanooga defensive back Buster Skrine will started his second year with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.

Former Red Bank High stars Tim Benford and Jeremy Caldwell, and former Howard standout Rico Council are also in pro camps as rookie free agents.

Benford is trying to earn a spot with the Dallas Cowboys at receiver, while Caldwell is working as a defensive back and return specialist for the St. Louis Rams. Council opened camp Thursday at linebacker with the Atlanta Falcons.
