CLEVELAND (WRCB) - A grassroots effort has resulted in a policy change at the Cleveland Animal Shelter.
Last month, we told you about two teens who had picked out a dog at the shelter.
When they went to pick up the lab, she'd been put down.
Leaders of the shelter say it was an honest mistake but, a group called "Cleveland for a No-Kill City" used it as an example of why a policy change was needed.
The Times Free Press reports this week, the City Council approved a proposal to give surrendered animals 72 hours before they are put down, the same as strays.
Before they were only given 24 hours.
