Lookouts stay hot by blowing out Barons

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Aaron Miller pitched five innings and four different Chattanooga players drove in a run to lead the Lookouts to a 7-1 rout of Birmingham Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Field.

It was the ninth win in the last eleven games for Chattanooga (20-12), who extended its lead to 2.5 games over Jackson in the Southern League's North Division. The Generals lost to Montgomery, 4-3, on Wednesday.

Miller (5-6) issued six walks, but minimized the damage by allowing just two hits and striking out seven. He recorded five strikeouts in his first six outs to cruise through the first two innings, then walked the bases loaded before recording an out in the third. He allowed his lone run on a sacrifice fly before retiring the next two batters to escape trouble.

Wes Roehmer held the Barons scoreless over the final four innings to pick up his first save.

Luis Nunez's RBI-double in the bottom of the third broke a 1-all tie and put the Lookouts ahead to stay. Nunez later added a sac fly, while Kyle Russell, Matt Wallach and C.J. Retherford each delivered an RBI hit as Chattanooga scored six unanswered runs to close the game.

Rafael Ynoa extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a lead-off double in the first. He later scored the game's first run on a wild pitch. Jake Lemmerman also scored on a wild pitch.
