Crews search Tennessee River for missing woman

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Chattanooga police spent the early morning hours searching the Tennessee River for two people.

Just after 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, police answered a water rescue call off of Riverfront Parkway.

A Russell Security Guard told police that an adult man and woman had jumped into the river and appeared to be struggling to get back to shore.

When officers arrived both victims were still in the water.

The male was in the middle of the river. With help from a private citizen, crews took a boat out and rescued him.

The female went under the water before they were able to reach her.

Hamilton County Rescue arrived with their boat and sonar, but they were not able to locate her.
