TUNNEL HILL, CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - Two North Georgia men face charges in the crash that took the life of a Dalton teenager.
A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol says 13-year-old Adrian Martinez was killed early Sunday morning.
Martinez was riding in the back seat of a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by 23-year-old Dean Butt.
Authorities say Butt lost control of the vehicle on Dogwood Valley Road. The car overturned and was hit by another car.
Martinez was not wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers arrested Butt and charged him with failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, first degree vehicular homicide, endangering a child while driving under the influence, and speeding.
An additional charge of DUI is pending the outcome of a blood test.
The second vehicle involved in the crash was driven by 25-year-old Rene Preciado. Preciado, who is from Chatsworth, faces similar charges. He was booked on charges of speeding, reckless driving, DUI, and first degree vehicular homicide.
Butt and Reciado were booked at the Catoosa County Jail, where they remain.
Funeral arrangements are being made for 13-year-old Martinez, who was an eighth grade student at North Whitfield Middle School.
