Lookouts top Smokies in opener, 4-3

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Aaron Miller delivered a two-run double in a three-run second-inning to fuel Chattanooga's 4-3 win over Tennessee Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series at AT&T Field.

The win pulled the Lookouts (16-11) within a half-game of first-place Jackson in North Division. The Generals lost at home 8-3 to Huntsville on Thursday.

Miller started strong on the mound as well before running into trouble in the fourth. He wound up allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks in just three-plus innings.

Javier Solano (2-1) picked up the win with two-plus innings of scoreless relief.

Travis Denker's solo home run started the scoring in the second for Chattanooga, and Jake Lemmerman's RBI groundout in the sixth provided the winning margin.

The two teams will play game two Friday night at 7:15 p.m. ET.

A "win, win, win" and enough time to build a new stadium in Chattanooga is all Jason Freier needs and the Chattanooga Lookouts would no longer be playing inside AT&T Field on Hawk Hill.
