Murray County judge under investigation for possible misconduct

Posted: Updated:

MURRAY COUNTY, GA. (WRCB)- Murray County Chief Magistrate Judge Bryant Cochran is being investigated for possible judicial misconduct.

Channel 3 has learned the Judicial Qualifications Commission in Georgia will be taking a hard look at Judge Cochran.

A Murray County woman is bringing forth allegations the judge is abusing his power.

Acting on a tip, Channel 3 started looking into the situation earlier this week.

On Monday, Murray County Attorney Greg Kinnamon copied Channel 3 on an email. The email contains details about the case.

The email eludes to a scenario in which Judge Cochran allegedly propositioned the woman, while working with her on a case she brought to court.

The woman has since hired legal council and we have yet to receive comment from her.

In Kinnamon's email, he calls the allegations unfounded, stating he personally knows Cochran.

With Cochran running for re-election, he told Kinnamon's office, he thinks the allegations are politically motivated.

Channel 3 has reached out to Cochran's attorney for comment and have not heard back.
