Cleveland's emergency notification system expanding
CLEVELAND (WRCB) - Cleveland's Salvation Army is helping Bradley County enhance its Emergency Notification System.
The organization is donating money for the Nixle Dial.
It will allow the emergency leaders to expand their system to more cell phones and landlines.
Currently, the system only sends texts, but the upgrade will include recorded voice messages as well, which leader say can be sent out within seconds.
The new features are expected to be in use within a couple of months.
Residents must sign up for the service.
Right now, about 7,000 people are enrolled.
