Lookouts pound M-Braves, 10-3

PEARL, Miss. (WRCB) -- Luis Nunez and Kyle Russell combined to drive in five runs and Chattanooga's offense pounded out 13 hits in a 10-3 drubbing of host Mississippi Tuesday night at Trustmark Park.

The Lookouts (15-11) took three of four in the series to improve to 8-1 against the M-Braves this season. Despite the victory, Chattanooga remains a game and a half behind first-place Jackson in the Southern League's North Division. The Generals beat Tennessee 9-2 Tuesday night.

Nunez went 2-for-4 on the night and opened the scoring with a three-run triple in the first. Russell's lone hit was a two-run homer in the eighth, which also produced one of his three runs scored.

Rafael Ynoa, Anthony Jackson and Blake Smith each drove in one run apiece.

Matt Magill (8-4), who was named the Southern League's Pitcher of the Week on Monday for a third time this season, picked up the win after allowing just three runs (two earned) in five innings. He gave up eight hits and a walk, but escaped trouble with five strikeouts and two double-plays.

Luis Vasquez and Logan Bawcom closed out the win with a combined four shutout innings of relief.

The Lookouts will be off Wednesday before opening a four-game home series with Tennessee on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. ET at AT&T Field.
