Russell leads Lookouts to extra-innings win

PEARL, Miss. (WRCB) -- Kyle Russell hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth to lead Chattanooga to a 3-2 extra-innings win over Mississippi Monday night at Trustmark Park.

Russell didn't record a hit in the game, going 0-for-3 officially, but still managed to drive in two runs on the sac fly and an RBI groundout in the first. C.J. Retherford also delivered an RBI groundout in the first to account for the Lookouts' other run.

Ethan Martin gave up just two earned runs in seven strong innings but did not factor in the decision. He struck out six, walked three and gave up four hits before turning it over to the bullpen.

Chris Withrow (2-1) picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief, then Steven Ames secured his tenth save of the season after Russell's sac fly.

Despite the win, Chattanooga (14-11) remains a game-and-a-half behind first-place Jackson in the Southern League's North Division. The Generals beat Tennessee 10-8 Monday night.

The Lookouts will wrap up their four-game series with the M-Braves Tuesday night and then take Wednesday off before opening a four-game home series with Tennessee on Thursday.
