Daughter of judicial candidate arrested for domestic assault

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- The daughter of a prominent Chattanooga attorney, who is running for Hamilton County Sessions Court, was arrested Monday on a charge of domestic assault.

Christiana Starnes, 23, was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail where her bond was set at $500.

She is the daughter of Gary Starnes, one of several candidates vying for the vacant Sessions Court judge post.

Gary Starnes issued the following statement, "as a parent, I am devastated by the hardships that my adult daughter, Christina, is facing in a divorce. As all parents, my wife, Carol and I want all of our children to be free of problems. However, no one is immune from problems, and we have the same challenges of any other family and parents. We dearly love our family, and are proud of all three of our adult children. We look forward to seeing Christiana through what are difficult times in her life."

Christina has a court date set for July 23 on the charge.

Late Monday night, Gary Starnes issued the following statement:

However, no one is immune from problems, and we have the same challenges of any other family and parents. We dearly love our family, and are proud of all three of our adult children.
