
KNOXVILLE (WRCB) -- Any chance Alton "Pig" Howard making an immediate impact in his from the start of his freshman year at Tennessee took a serious hit this week.
The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports the highly-touted wideout had surgery on his left foot Friday and will miss all of preseason camp.
UT director of athletics communication Jimmy Stanton told the News-Sentinel that Howard should be able to join the team early in the regular season, but didn't have specific information on the surgery or the injury.
Howard, a four-star recruit from Orlando, Fla., reportedly impressed teammates during voluntary summer workouts with his speed and agility.
