KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - For the first time in her life, Pat Summitt will serve as grand marshal at a NASCAR race.

It's the Nationwide Series Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 24.

The announcement came at a news conference Friday in Thompson-Boling Arena. In addition, 2011 Daytona 500 champion and Knoxville native Trevor Bayne will drive an orange "We Back Pat" car in the Bristol race to promote The Pat Summitt Foundation. Fans will be able to donate money and have pictures put on the car.

Summitt announced last August she had been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type, and stepped down in April after 38 seasons as Tennessee women's basketball coach. She won an NCAA record 1,098 games and eight national championships.
