Young girl works to make playground safe

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The playground at Hixson Elementary School is a bit safer now all because a little girl fell and broke her collarbone.

Kailery Buttry has been working in the rain so other children won't go through what she did.

She fell off the school playground bars slammed into a metal pole, broke her collarbone, cracked her nose and got a concussion.

She healed and walked right in to Lowes and Home Depot, asking them to make her school playground safe.

The stores agreed to help out.

Both hardware stores donated pads and other materials to safeguard against falls and bangs.

Even in the pouring rain, Kailey and her friends worked to make sure children are as safe as possible.
