Lookouts top Blue Wahoos in Hamilton's debut

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Matt Magill tossed six shutout innings and Luis Nunez homered and had three hits to lead Chattanooga to a 5-1 win Wednesday night in the opener of a three-game set with Pensacola at AT&T Field.

With the win, the Lookouts (12-8) remain in a first-place tie with Jackson atop the Southern League's North Division.

Magill (7-4) struck out seven and surrendered just three hits en route to his seventh win of the year. Red Patterson and Steven Ames closed out the win.

Magill's dominant outing overshadowed the Double-A debut of Pensacola's speedy shortstop Billy Hamilton, who entered the night with 104 stolen bases in 82 minor-league games. Hamilton went 1-for-4, but still managed to provide some fireworks with one stolen base and an RBI-triple in the eighth for his first Double-A hit.

Nunez hit a solo homer in the seventh as part of a 3-for-4 night to lead Chattanooga's attack. He also drove in a run in the fifth on an infield single.

Griff Erickson's two-run double to left-center in the fourth broke a scoreless tie. Rafael Ynoa made scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the fifth to push the lead to 3-0 before Nunez closed out the scoring.
