WRCB meteorologists headline weather-themed summer camp

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Scenic City and surrounding areas have no shortage of summer camps to keep kids busy. For the first time this year, a local school is hosting a camp dedicated to nothing but studying weather.

The Magnificent Meteorology camp at The Bright School features meteorologists from Channel 3 on different days of the week followed by a studio tour on Friday. Chief Meteorologist Paul Barys met with the children on Tuesday. He told them about the importance of safety during weather and how good grades are among the keys to becoming successful.

Channel 3's morning meteorologist David Karnes will join the camp on Wednesday.

Approximately 25 children, including children who attend other schools, are attending the camp this week. The children remember the moments of the April 27, 2011 tornadoes when they were sheltered at area schools during the afternoon storms.

Camps continue through the end of July with different themes per week. Click here for more information.
