POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Firefighters are battling both heat and fire as they work to contain a wildfire along Highway 64 near Goforth Creek in Polk County.

A spokesman with the Tennessee Forestry Department said nearly 150 acres are burning, with 60 firefighters already working to contain the blaze and another 20 on the way.

The fire started Friday around 3:45 p.m. and is about 200 feet from the road, butcan't be seen because the terrain is so steep and rugged

Due to the rough terrain and heat conditions, it is estimated that it will likely take several days to knock out completely

To aid in bringing the fire under control, helicopters are dropping buckets of water because the fire is almost completely inaccessible for fire trucks.
