Autopsy shows Bates brothers died of hyperthermia

BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- The Bradley County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division is continuing investigation into the deaths of 3-year-old River Bates and his brother 5-year-old Leland Bates.  

The preliminary autopsy report shows both children died of hyperthermia. 

Hyperthermia is a condition characterized by an elevated body temperature that occurs when the body produces or absorbs more heat than it can dissipate

Specific details of the autopsy report are not being released at this time.
