CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Channel 3 has learned a local St. Jude patient lost his battle with cancer.

Reese Martin, who was five-years-old, died this morning.

He was the face of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and had been featured on Channel 3 numerous times. Most recently in June, promoting this year's St. Jude Dream Home.

The 2011 Dream Home was built in Reese's honor.

"Yes, it's a roller coaster ride for sure," said Regennia Martin, in a recent interview with Channel 3.

Reese was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. The Martins went to St. Jude in Memphis for treatment.

Recently doctors discovered Reese had a brain tumor.

The tumor was removed but the news from the doctors still wasn't good. Earlier this year, they gave Reese zero chance of survival.

When we talked to Martins last month, they were not without hope. Reese was his normal self, making our crew laugh and smile. You can see that interview here.

"There is nothing in your life that you cannot deal with if you just walk in faith," Regennia Martin told us.

"I got the best mom in the world," Reese said, hugging his mom, "I got the best mom of all!"

His funeral will be held this Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church in East Brainerd. Viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 4:00 p.m.
