Sheriff's office employee charged with prescription fraud
EAST RIDGE, TN (WRCB) -- A Hamilton County Sheriff's Office records clerk is facing charges of trying to obtain a controlled substance by fraud following an investigation by East Ridge Police.
On Wednesday at approximately 11:21 p.m., East Ridge Police responded to the Walgreens Pharmacy on Ringgold Rd. in reference to a fraudulent prescription. When officers arrived pharmacy staff stated they had a prescription that didn't look right.
During the investigation it was found that the doctor's name had been misprinted and signatures did not match. Contact was made with the doctor's office earlier in the day and confirmation was made that the prescription was forged.
At that time officers made contact with the suspect who was in the drive-thru, identified as Lori Ann Pickett, 49, of Harrison, TN.
Pickett was transported to the Hamilton County Jail where she was charged with Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud.
She is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday, August 21st, at 5:00 p.m.
