(WRCB) - U.S. Senator Bob Corker along with a senator from Connecticut and a representative from Georgia have announced the Senate passage of the "Gain Act".
It's part of an agreement between the House and Senate to reauthorize Food and Drug Administration user fees.
The "Gain Act", introduced in part by Corker in October, aims to spur development of new drugs to treat increasing cases of bacterial infections resistant to conventional antibiotics.
The deal now goes to President Obama's desk.
