CHATTANOOGA (WRCB/UTC) -- More than a dozen athletes with local ties will try to make the U.S. Olympic Team at swimming and track and field trials over the next two weeks, but the Chattanooga area's latest Olympian will be going against the Red, White and Blue.
Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball player Jenaya Wade-fray was selected to play for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Wade-Fray, who is a native of St. George's, Bermuda, debuted on the national team in 2010, but missed competition in 2011 with an injury.
The 5-foot-9 guard was a two-time All-SoCon player at UTC, where she led the Lady Mocs to four straight SoCon regular season championships and three tournament titles.
Wade-Fray is the program's all-time leader in career games played, having appeared in 131 contests during her four-year run. She currently ranks 12th on the Lady Mocs' all-time scoring list with 1,351 points, and stands in the top ten in career 3-pointers made and career assists.
Wade-Fray's Great Britain team will play preparatory matches against Angola, Australia and France in Sheffield before meeting reigning gold medalists USA in Manchester.
The team will tip-off their Olympic campaign against Australia in late July.
