Teenager drowns Sunday at Carter's Dam

MURRAY COOUNTY, GA (WRCB) -- Murray County Sheriff Howard Ensley confirmed today that Evec Ramirez, 14, drowned Sunday afternoon at the top of Carter's Dam just south of Chatsworth.

According to Ensley, the victim's mother, Florida Ventura, said her son had left the rest of the group at a church picnic without notifying anyone.

Once it was noticed he was missing, members of the church picnic went looking for him.

He was located under water by friends and transported to Murray Medical Center.
