CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A dive into the Tennessee River landed a man in the hospital.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources officer Joe McSpadden tells Eyewitness News that the man was enjoying a day boating with family and friends.

They anchored across from the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, and the man decided to cool off in the water.

He dove in, not knowing the water was shallow where they were, and hit rocks under the surface.

The man was taken to Erlanger, where McSpadden says he got stitches. He's expected to be okay.

We're told no alcohol was detected. The man simply misjudged the depth of the water.
