CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Before Lauren Alaina took the Coke Stage Saturday night, she took the time to stop by the St. Jude Dream Home for a meet and greet with fans.

Hometown girl Lauren Alaina says she is thrilled to be back, playing the big stage at Riverbend, saying it is number two on her list next to singing at the Grand Ole Opry.

Before she took the stage, she also took the time to show her support for St. Jude Hospital.

Fans greeted Lauren Alaina with cheers as she arrived at the St. Jude Dream Home in Ooltewah. People from all over the Channel 3 viewing area and even other states, lined up to get the chance to meet the singer.

"She's such a good singer and an inspiration," says one fan.

Her fans say they like her because she is so genuine, at times acting silly and forgetting the camera was on her.

Then moments later, she was having fun, playing reporter, saying "Hey y'all, this is Lauren Alaina! Thanks for watching Channel 3!"

"Anything I can do to help out St. Jude, I'm there," she says.

Channel 3 had the chance to catch up with Lauren back stage before her show.

"I actually visited the St. Jude Hospital a couple of months ago and I got to see some of the kids," she says.

Lauren says it means so much to know St. Jude is making a difference in children's lives.

"I asked this little boy what his favorite part of the hospital was and he said the doctors. That's unheard of!"

She says she is so glad to be back in her hometown, saying it is an honor to play the Coke Stage.

"If someone had told me two years ago that I'd be on this stage tonight, I wouldn't have known what to think, you know? It's amazing how one decision can change everything."

That decision being, to try out for American Idol.

"We voted for her a lot of times," says fan Kira Stander of Cleveland.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my hometown. I know how much they voted for me and stood behind me during the whole experience."

Her message to her fans? If they work hard, they can achieve their dreams too.

In the meantime, she will keep reaching for the stars herself.

"Whatever God's plan for me, whatever He's got coming for me I'm ready for it," she says.

Her album 'Wildflower' debuted at number one for a country album on iTunes and includes her already hit single 'Like My Mother Does' and 'Georgia Peaches.'

Lauren says she is busy touring with Sugarland and is getting ready to release another single.
