MUGSHOTS: Stolen car leads to drug bust

FLINTSTONE, WALKER COUNTY -

(WRCB) – Deputies in Walker County say a stolen car investigation led them to a large drug bust.

Investigators say a car was stolen from in front of a convenience store in Flintstone last Thursday. The car was spotted at 3846 Happy Valley Road in Flintstone on Monday.

While investigating the stolen car, Sheriff Steve Wilson says one of his deputies had probable cause that the occupants were in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Deputy Kevin Denny and Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force agents searched the home and say they found a small quantity of methamphetamine and paraphernalia related to methamphetamine use, such as pipes, spoons and syringe needles.  In addition to the methamphetamine, several bags of marijuana were found, according to Sheriff Wilson.

A total of eight adults and a teen were arrested. Investigators say the teen was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and discovered to be a runaway from Chattanooga, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and runaway from Chattanooga.

The eight arrested were: 29-year-old Eric Wade Smith; 38-year-old Edward Curtis Murphy; 57-year-old James Howard Franklin; 31-year-old Joseph Shane Franklin; 25-year-old Heather Nicole Young; 27-year-old Valerie Rose Defur; 25-year-old Amy Pearson; 31-year-old Velisha Kirby.
