TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- A person familiar with the situation says an Alabama football player was hospitalized after an early morning fight, where shots were fired.
Receiver DeAndrew White was being held Thursday at DCH Regional Medical Center, the person told The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because neither Alabama nor the police have identified the individual.
Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit commander Loyd Baker says police responded to reports of a fight and shots fired at 2:10 a.m. He says a 20-year-old man was involved in the fight but did not provide any details of his injuries.
Baker says a 31-year-old man was found unconscious with severe head injuries on the sidewalk a block away from where the fight occurred. Baker says police aren't sure if the man was in the fight.
