North Ga. interstate reopens after fiery wreck

Posted: Updated:

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The southbound lanes of a north Georgia interstate have reopened after a fiery wreck closed the stretch for more than nine hours.

WSB Radio reports that southbound Interstate 75 near in Bartow County had reopened by 1 a.m. Monday.

Georgia State Patrol officials say the driver of a pickup truck lost control Sunday afternoon, crossed the median and slammed into a semitrailer

The semi, which was hauling plastic bags, caught fire and burned for several hours.

CBS Atlanta reports that the driver of the tractor-trailer died in the crash, and the pickup driver suffered burns on his upper body.
