Parksville Lake

Posted: Updated:
June 08, 2014

On June 8th the water level on Parksville is at normal summer elevation. It is ranging between 828-829 feet. Surface temperatures are about 82 degrees everywhere on the main body and as high as 85 in some of the creeks and pockets.

Fishing has been a struggle for both spots and largemouth for most lately. The Tuesday night tournament last week took just over 6 pounds to win, no one could find a limit of keeper fish.

Most of the spotted bass are clinging to the bottom and scattered. It has been very tough to put any kind of pattern together. As far as a moving bite goes, topwaters, fishheadspins, and deep diving crankbaits will probably be your best bet. None are putting fish in the boat consistently at all.

As far as just trying to catch some fish, as always, it's hard to beat a small finesse worm rigged on a shakeyhead or dropshot. Fish around every point you see and cover a lot of water.

If the water temperature continues to climb towards the mid to upper 80s, it'll hopefully get the fish to start grouping up in large schools on main lake points. This never really happened last year until August/September. Normally happens in mid-late June when the water reaches those temperatures. Things are a lot easier when the fish are bunched up, so hopefully soon!

Good luck out there!
