Parksville Lake

Posted: Updated:

February 25, 2014

On February 25th the water level on Parksville is close to normal winter level, 821.7 feet. Water temps. have warmed a lot over the past week. I've seen 54-55F water on the upper end of the lake and an average of 49-51F on the rest of the lake. Water is muddy on the upper part and stained from mid-lake down.

Fishing has been poor. Not many fish are being caught right now. After all the warm weather lately, many fish have moved up in 15 foot or less of water. Bait fish are showing up all over the lake as well. Hopefully this means things will turn on if the weather stabilizes. I've had very little success with the float n fly and fishheadspin lately. Normally if the fishing is very tough this time of the year, those are my go to baits. The top producers seem to be jerkbaits and shakeyheads. Fish them slow and cover as much water as you can, it's been a bite here and there kind of deal.

Good luck out there!
