Parksville Lake

Posted: Updated:
April 20, 2014

On April 20th the water level on Parksville is 827 feet, roughly a foot and a half from normal summer pool. Surface temperatures are 62-65F on most of the main body and slightly warmer in the creeks and pockets.

Fishing is good right now and should continue to get better as the water keeps warming up. Some male largemouth are starting to fan beds and bigger females are not far behind, cruising around shallow. This is a good time for top water baits. Just try to keep your distance and not let them see you!

The spotted bass are doing different things all over the lake. Not much of a pattern going on for them. Some are shallow, some are still deep. We have caught spots on all kinds of lures this past week. Top waters, spinnerbaits, shakeyheads, jerkbaits, Hog Farmer rigs, crankbaits, and jigs. The bigger spots we've caught over the past week have come off Hog Farmer rigs and top waters.

Stronger patterns should develop over the next week as the water warms. Things are a little behind this year with the couple of cold fronts we've had the last couple weeks.

Good luck out there!
