Chipper Jones activated, returns to Braves lineup

Posted: Updated:

HOUSTON (AP) - Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones has been activated from the disabled list and is in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Houston Astros.

Jones, who turns 40 later this month, opened the season on the DL following surgery March 26 to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The switch-hitter, who plans to retire at the end of this season, hit .275 with 18 home runs and 70 RBIs in 126 games last season.

He returns to an Atlanta team that is 0-4 for the first time since the Braves lost their first 10 games in 1988 on the way to a National League-worst record of 54-106.
