DALTON, GA (WRCB) – A week after Dalton Police say a man assaulted an elderly man and stole his pants, the suspect, Ronnie Joe Long, has been found and taken into custody.
Long, 44, was arrested without incident on Saturday evening after an officer on patrol spotted him walking down Frederick Street. He was wanted for robbery, burglary, simple assault and theft.
Investigators say early in the morning on March 18, Long knocked on a door at Whitfield Commons on Hawthorne Street.
Officers say when the elderly resident came to the door, Long forced his way in, knocking the man to the ground and took the man's pants.
Officers speculate that Long assumed the man's wallet may be in the pants. They say Long then fled on foot.
Long was also wanted for stealing a necklace from a woman with whom he was staying on School Street and then pawning the necklace.
The victim later found a pawn ticket at the house after Long had moved on and investigators were able to retrieve the necklace and return it to the victim.
