BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Patrol deputies made an arrest April 4 after responding to a theft-in-progress call on Pleasant Grove Trail. The property owner contacted the Bradley County Sheriff's Office after seeing a white van in an area of an earlier scrap metal theft.

Robert James Davis of Rollins Ridge Road was taken into custody shortly after deputies' arrival.

Davis was digging his van out of a large hole that he said is the same one he drove into when deputies arrested him several months ago.

Records show Davis, who is 60 years old, was taken into custody on November 4 in response to a 911 call of a theft-in-progress to the same location. Car parts Davis removed were immediately recovered.

Prior to his arrest last week Davis had spent several hours trying to free his vehicle. He has been charged with attempted theft over $10,000 and vandalism under $500.

Further investigation revealed Davis entered the property by cutting a barbed wire fence.

The investigation included the Criminal Investigations Division.
