CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The beat goes on for Chattanooga State softball.
The nation's top-ranked junior college team pushed its winning streak to 19 games with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Cleveland State, 3-0 and 11-2, on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers' offense started slow in the opener before scoring all three of its runs in the sixth inning.
The late production was still more than enough for ace Ashley Czechner, who tallied eleven strikeouts in a complete-game shutout for her 23rd win of the season.
Chatt State (43-3 overall, 8-0 in TJCAA) found its stride in game two, belting three homers in a five-inning, mercy-rule win.
Andrea Dalton connected on a pair of blasts, a solo shot in the second and a two-run bomb in the fourth. Chelsea Burgess added a two-run homer, as well.
Janna Scheff struck out five while going the distance in the circle to pick up her 17th win of the year.
The sweep wraps up an eight-game homestand for the Lady Tigers, who haven't lost since a 6-2 setback at Tallahassee on March 8. They'll travel to Motlow State for a doubleheader next Tuesday before returning to Chattanooga for another six-game homestand on Friday.
