GORDON COUNTY, GA. (WRCB) -- A north Georgia inmate died Tuesday morning after swallowing a bag of drugs during an arrest.
Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston says Matthew Cobb of Calhoun, Georgia was charged with driving under the influence Monday night. Cobb told deputies he swallowed a bag of drugs before he was stopped.
He was taken to Gordon Hospital. Sheriff Ralston says Tuesday morning in his cell, Cobb complained of shortness of breath and was taken back to the emergency room.
Ralston says he died a short time later.

The driver was sentenced to six years of supervised probation.
