A police officer convicted of killing his wife is back in the Tennessee Valley

RINGGOLD, CATOOSA COUNTY -

(WRCB) - A police officer convicted of killing his wife is back in the Tennessee Valley.

Sam Parker was moved from the Georgia State Prison System to Catoosa County last week in advance of a hearing for a new trial.

He was booked on a hold for Walker County.

Parker is a former Lafayette Police officer.

In 2009, he was convicted in the murder of his wife Theresa, a Walker County dispatcher.

Her body wasn't discovered until the following year in Chattooga County.

Parker's hearing for a new trial will happen in the coming weeks.

He's currently serving a life sentence.
