CHATTANOOGA (UTC) -- Another week, another award for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Michelle Fuzzard.
The reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year has been tabbed as the SoCon Player of the Week for the third time this season. The league office announced the honor on Monday.
Fuzzard set a new UTC single-game record by driving in nine runs in Saturday's win at Appalachian State. The fifth-year slugger finished the contest 3-for-3 with two homers, a double and a walk.
Fuzzard, who eclipsed the Lady Mocs' career RBI mark earlier this season, became the SoCon's all-time career RBI leader on Saturday, as well. Her 191 runs batted in move her past former College of Charleston star Amanda Cone ('01-'04), who held the previous mark of 184.
The weekly honor is the eight of Fuzzard's career, and she was also named the league's Player of the Month for February.
Along with freshman Taylor Deason's two Pitcher of the Week honors, a Chattanooga player has earned one of the SoCon's two weekly awards in five of the season's first seven weeks.
The Lady Mocs return to the road this weekend at Georgia Southern on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Both teams enter the weekend with undefeated marks in SoCon action and the finale of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
