Crime Stoppers: Find Franklin Bonner's Killers

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WRCB-TV) - Linda's Bonner's husband of 43 years was taken from her in 2009; murdered in their home, and still no one has been caught. "Whatever they took out of my house," she said, "I don't miss it. I don't see it. I miss my husband."

Mrs. Bonner returned to her Washington Hills home from work in the early evening of January 16th to find a grisly scene. Her 68-year old husband Franklin was dead. His hands and feet were bound. He was gagged with tape over his mouth. "When people do things like this," she said, "I think they don't think about the consequences. Not only did they kill our loved one, they messed up our family. You see what I'm saying? The ones that's left behind."

A wife children and grandchildren are now all living without Franklin. Bonner added, "He has a 94 year old Mother that is still asking, 'Have they not caught those people that killed Kookie?'"

We are counting on you and what you may know to lead to some resolution in this case. "We've gotten a lot of information," said Chattanooga Police Officer Nathan Hartwig, "through the years, but it's just, none of it has panned out for us."

The family believes the killers may have used neighborhood pathways to get in and out. Did you see something? "It could be you saw someone on a corner for two weeks that wasn't there," said daughter Stephanie Penson. "You saw a vehicle that wasn't normally there. Because, these people that did this had to know their schedule. They had to know their routine."

There's a picture of Franklin hanging in the kitchen, in the same room where Mrs. Bonner found him. She will continue plant kisses on the portrait of her soul mate everyday, praying that his killer will be found "Time is ticking," she said, "and they are gonna get caught. Because, number one, we believe in the Lord. My husband was a good man. He's not gonna let this go undone."

If you know anything about this case from January of 2009, call Crime Stoppers at: 698-3333. A police officer may answer the phone, but you never have to identify yourself. Up to a thousand dollars is available for the right information.
