Local woman receives presidential honor
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A local woman has received a presidential honor for her work in the health care field.
According to White House, President Barack Obama has selected Katherlyn Geter as one of 10 Champions of Change: Affordable Care Act.
The honor was given to those who are helping their communities understand the president's health law, the Affordable Care Act.
Geter has been the regional coordinator of the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) in Chattanooga for the past decade.
With help of SHIP volunteers, Geter has worked tirelessly to help older Americans understand the benefits available to them.
Geter educates the public on the benefits and services available to them through the weekly radio show "Medicare Connection" and by working with multiple faith-based organizations.
