FIRST ON 3: Memorial Senior VP arrested following police pursuit
RED BANK, HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. (WRCB) – A local hospital executive is facing a felony charge, following a brief police chase over the weekend.
According to the arrest report from Red Bank police, 53-year-old Debra Louis Moore, Senior Vice President at Memorial Hospital in Hixson, was arrested Saturday morning around 1:00 after refusing to stop for Red Bank Officer Leightaylor Noorbergen.
Noorbergen states Moore's 2008 grey Audi passed her patrol car near the 200 block of Highway 27 at a "high rate of speed."
The officer says she activated her sirens and sped up to 70 miles per hour to catch Moore, but says she refused to stop, hitting speeds of 80 to 85 miles per hour while changing lanes multiple times.
The report states Moore continued down Highway 27 for up to two miles, before stopping at a red light at the Morrison Springs Road exit.
After a second officer arrived for a "felony takedown," the report states Moore got out of her car, saying she didn't know that Noorbergen was a police officer.
A short time later, Noorbergen states in the report that Moore changed her story, saying she was unaware she was in the officer's jurisdiction.
Moore was arrested and charged with reckless driving and felony evading arrest.
A spokesperson for Memorial Health Care System says Moore is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
