Teen shooting victim remains in critical condition

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- In a Monday press conference, Chattanooga Police officials provided details of what led to a 13 year-old girl getting shot in the head Saturday night on Bennett Avenue.

According to the officials, the incident started in the 2100 block of 12th Street where there were numerous people outside.  Two cars started to circle the area with shots being fired from one of the cars.  No one was injured at this point.  

One of the cars then stopped in front of 2012 Bennett Ave when an unknown person ran up behind the house and began to shoot at the car.  

This is when the 13 year-old victim was struck by one of the bullets. She remains in critical condition at Erlanger Medical Center.

Investigators have suspect leads and are questioning a person-of-interest at this time.

Patrol Officers and Investigators are working around the clock trying to locate and arrest suspects and ask that anyone with information on the shooting to please call the department at (423) 698-2525.
