Stranded hikers rescued from Chickamauga Creek

Posted: Updated:

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. (WRCB) – Three hikers from Rossville, Georgia found themselves stranded in Pocket Wilderness State Park Tuesday night.

Hamilton County EMS Spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says the hikers were found by rescue crews, stranded on the opposite side North Chickamauga Creek.

Several first responders crossed the creek to help the hikers across.

Maxwell says the water's intense speed and frigid temperature slowed the rescue, which took about an hour and a half.

However, EMS crews were able to bring all three hikers back across the creek.

Thankfully, no one was injured.
