COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina has fired men's basketball coach Darrin Horn after another disappointing season for the Gamecocks.
Athletic director Eric Hyman said Tuesday Horn had to go because he was tired of finishing toward the bottom of the Southeastern Conference.
The Gamecocks finished this season 10-21 and 2-14 in the SEC. Horn's teams lost more games in each of his four seasons.
South Carolina has lost 24 of its last 27 SEC games, and Horn finishes his career at South Carolina 23-45 in the SEC and 60-63 overall. The Gamecocks have not made the NCAA tournament since 2004.
Horn has three years remaining on his contract and his owed a total of $2.4 million. He issued a statement thanking the school and wishing the Gamecocks the best.
