UPDATE: Pedestrian struck, killed by CSX train in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Officials in Polk County have confirmed that a 41-year-old man was struck and killed by a CSX train around 12:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The man, identified as Russell Ball Jr. of Fayetteville AR, was apparently walking alongside the tracks near Highway 411 and Highway 64 when a southbound CSX train approached.

Witnesses say the engineer blew his horn several times to alert the man and attempted to slow the train when the man did not get out of the way, but was unable to stop before striking the man.
