County by County: How your favorite candidate did where you live
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Newt Gingrich easily won his state of Georgia but finished third in the border state of Tennessee.
According to official results on WRCBtv.com, Gingrich grabbed 47.4% of Georgia followed by Mitt Romney with 25.7% and Rick Santorum with 19.6 %. Ron Paul supporters made sure their candidate picked up 6.5% of the vote in Georgia.
The story in Tennessee was a little different where Rick Santorum, who paid multiple visits in the last few weeks, won the state with 37.3% of the vote. Mitt Romney was second with 28% and Gingrich was third at 24%. Paul finished better in Tennessee, with 9%.
Gingrich won all North Georgia counties in the official Channel 3 viewing area: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Murray, Walker, Whitfield. Gingrich also won Marion County, Tennessee. Santorum took the others: Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Sequatchie.
In Chattanooga's home county of Hamilton, Santorum received 31.5% of the vote to Romney's 28.9%, Gingrich's 27.7%, and Paul's 10.5%.
