Hamilton County deputy arrested after crash, charged with DUI
HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A Hamilton County deputy was arrested and charged with DUI Friday evening after he lost control of his personal truck and crashed on Walnut Road.
According to officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Deputy Thomas "Mike" Fulmer was traveling eastbound on Walnut Road around 9:15 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, driving off the right side of the roadway and into a yard.
He then came back across the roadway, struck a mailbox, lost control of his vehicle, traveled back across the roadway, into a ditch, overturned, struck a street sign, and finally came to rest on the north side of Walnut Street.
The THP was called in to investigate the accident per standard Hamilton County policy when one of their own in involved.
After investigating, Trooper David McVey took Fulmer, who had refused medical treatment, into custody and charged him with DUI.
Hamilton County officials had no official comment on the arrest.
