Catoosa deputy fired for violating department policy

Posted: Updated:

RINGGOLD, CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - A Catoosa County Sheriff's Deputy is off the job while state investigators look into his relationship with a juvenile.

According to Sheriff Phil Summers, Stephen Crossen was terminated Wednesday for violating departmental policy.

Crossen has been employed by the Sheriff's Office for more than five years.

Special Agent James Harris says the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, at the request of District Attorney Buzz Franklin of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, is conducting an investigation as to whether or not any laws of the State of Georgia were violated by Crossen during his relationship with a juvenile female.

Following the investigation, the case will be released to D.A. Franklin and a decision will be made as to whether or not charges will be filed.

"It has been the long standing policy of this administration that comments in regards to personnel matters are not discussed by this agency," says Sheriff Summers.
