Concerned neighbors help bust North Alabama drug dealer
DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WRCB) -- On Tuesday night, Dekalb County Drug Task Force agents Tony Blackwell and Mitchell Dendy went to a residence located on Co Rd 880 in the High Point community to answer a complaint from concerned citizens of illegal drug activity.
Sheriff Harris said agents and deputies, upon arrival, located John Preston McCurdy standing in the living room of the residence with a pistol in the waist band of his pants and he also had a quantity of methamphetamine in his pocket.
Further investigation revealed several weapons being confiscated along with prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. One 270 deer rifle was located that had been stolen in Jackson Alabama in 2003.
Sheriff Harris said investigators from Jackson Police Department were contacted and are coming to retrieve the weapon and interview the suspect.
At the close of the investigation John Preston Gad McCurdy of Valley Head was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs.
McCurdy was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he remains under a $13, 500.00 property bond.
Sheriff Harris reinforces the issue with concerned citizens and law enforcement working together to continue to get drugs out of our communities in DeKalb County. "I have always appreciated the help of the citizens of DeKalb County, together we can continue to fight the drug problem and be successful".
