Wildfire in North Georgia under control

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - Forestry officials say a wildfire burning in North Georgia is under control.

The fire was sparked by a burning brush pile on Cherokee Valley Road, which was hit hard by the April tornadoes.

The flames then spread toward White Oak Mountain.

Fire officials initially said the fire burned 20 acres.

Now they say it was more like 60.

It's up to the Forestry Division to decide if charges should be filed, because they issue burn permits outside city limits.
